In line with AFRACA’s strategic direction of strengthening and developing partnerships with like-minded institutions, the AFRACA Secretary General, Mr. Saleh Usman Gashua accompanied by the Programme Coordinator attended the 3rd Credit Information Sharing (CIS) Regional conference on innovation and financial inclusion on 23 February 2016 at the
Hilton Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
The conference was attended by more than 300 participants across Africa and was an excellent platform for brainstorming on ways in which global standards in CIS can be effectively achieved.
The conference featured a number of prominent speakers, including Dr. Patrick Njoroge – Governor, Central Bank of Kenya; Henry Rotich – Cabinet Secretary, National Treasury; Mr. Madane Toure, Director of Statistics, BCEAO; Mr. Wagara Melchior, 1st Vice Governor, Bank of Burundi; Dr. Louis Kasekende, Deputy Governor, Bank of Uganda; Alvarez Navarro Valeria – Banco De Mexico; Luz Maria Salamina, Principal Financial Specialist, World Bank Group.
The conference was informative and provided in-depth insight and practical ways in which the CIS mechanism has worked in Kenya and other countries.
