At the start of the year, AFRACA Secretary General Mr. Thomas Essel paid a courtesy call to the newly appointed BoT Governor, Emmanuel Tutuba. During the visit Mr. Essel congratulated the Governor on his recent appointment. Mr. Tutuba becomes the eighth governor to take charge of BoT. Prior to his new role, Mr. Tutuba was the permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning. 

During the visit, the Governor reiterated his support to AFRACA and his priority areas of focus in supporting agriculture in Tanzania. Addressing climate risk remains top in his agenda. He also highlighted BoT’s efforts in promoting financial inclusion in Tanzania through the financial inclusion department of the Bank and expressed his commitment to continue supporting financial institutions in Tanzania through various financial instruments promoted by the Bank, such as availing guarantee funds to minimize risk in agriculture lending. 

Following the meeting with BoT, AFRACA connected with member institutions in Tanzania including CRDB Bank, DCB Commercial Bank, Azania Bank and TAMFI. Other strategic visits were also held with PASS and the management of Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB).
