Cultivate Africa Dialogue

AFRACA will convene session track 8 on Agribusiness and Finance during the Cultivate Africa
Dialogue hosted by the African Union from 17th and 18th November 2020.
The session themed, "Re-purposing existing public resources for #rural & agricultural
development in Africa” will seek to explore:
1. Avenues for resources and funds to be re-purposed for agricultural value chain development
and trade
2. Instruments and strategies currently available for governments and other public sector
agencies to spur more investments in Agriculture Development and Agriculture Trade
3. Structural reforms needed to advance diversification and the ability to substitute between
alternative suppliers
4. Private sector policy considerations for re-purposing existing public resources focusing on
women and youth in agriculture production and distribution
5. Innovative financial engineering to decrease risk – aversion among DFIs and policy-makers to
reduce dependency on foreign suppliers for Agricultural Value Chain Development and Trade.
