International Symposium-Cooperative Financial Institutions in Rural Development

The World Bank in partnership with the Rabo Foundation, Développement International Desjardins (DID), German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV); International Credit Union Regulators’ Network (ICURN) and the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) will convene the International Symposium on Cooperative Financial Institutions in Rural Development: Promise and Challenges.

The symposium aims:

1. To gather the community of CFI stakeholders and experts to exchange recently acquired knowledge around the overarching theme of CFIs and Rural Development;

2. To share these exchanges with the broader audience of financial sector policymakers and officials, thus influencing policy and practice interventions; and

3. further mainstreaming CFI support programs in development organizations and government policy platforms.
