The meeting, convened by Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya, CEO of NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, took place on 30th May 2024. The discussion centered on potential collaborations between NEPAD, AFRACA, and Sprout Africa, focusing on AFRACA’s role as a technical partner for the upcoming Non-profit Konnect Summit to be held in November 2024. The program structure and organization of business-to-business meetings with local Nonprofit Organizations in Kenya were also key topics.

Nonprofit Konnect is a platform for Public-Nonprofit collaboration, bringing together the Non-profit sector ecosystem to facilitate dialogue and deepen collaboration for maximum impact. The platform is based on the Public-Nonprofit Partnership (PNPP) model and brings together leaders to discuss long-standing and emerging issues to shape future agendas.

Nonprofit Konnect 2024, scheduled for November in Nairobi, Kenya, will address the urgent need for collaborative solutions to interconnected global problems such as climate change, poverty, and public health crises. The summit is pivotal for advancing the PNPP model and emphasizes a unified approach towards achieving the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), Kenya’s Medium-Term Plan (MTP) for 2023-2027, AU Agenda 2063, and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

During the discussions, AFRACA was represented by Mrs. Caroll Bakang, Head of Multilateral Relations. The meeting was highly productive and established AFRACA’s significant role as a technical partner in the Summit. Through strategic alliances, knowledge exchange, and engagement, the summit aims to drive positive change and advance the Public-Nonprofit Partnership (PNPP) model of development.
